So yesterday was the well awaited #NWMeet, which was supporting The Recovery Bag Project which is something very important to me. Officially I probably shouldn't have been there as this is my first blog post but as Sam's cousin I got a lil invite. It was a long day, we left Sam's house at 9 and arrived shortly after, I was very nervous arriving as we got to the secret location The Secret Warehouse, inside it was a bloggers dream, filled with quirky decor all around and their very own meditation room. Before everyone arrived we (Katy, Sam & I) spent hours setting up, from arranging all the blk waters, to stacking the green & black's chocolate to finding string for the kissing wall and then moving all the chairs around at least 10 times. The food table was interesting, it was a build your own bag type thing so everyone just took what they wanted, there was Propercorn, The Cake Days, Primal Pantry and Just Bee honey infused water, how could Katy plan an event without something bee related involved?
When everyone arrived I was so nervous, I knew literally nobody so I hid behind Katy while she vlogged everyone walking in and taking a piece of paper off of Sam, sounds weird I know but it was for the Disney Couture raffle which I actually ended up getting something from! A little ring saying "believe" it's so dainty and cute, I love it. Everyone seemed to enjoy doing the activities which we set up, the most popular being the kissing wall, where everyone got a W7 lipstick and kissed a piece of paper then put their name and blog address on too, they were all held up by little pegs on the piece of string which looked so cute when they were all done. Another activity was 'Guess the amount of Midget Gems in the Jar' where the winners won a gorgeous Jones+Jones dress each! The blogger who guessed the furthest answer away won the jar of midget gems so everyone's a winner. There was also the main raffle in which everyone ended up winning something, even if your number wasn't called if someone got called twice, they nominated someone wihout one to take it, it was so lovely to watch.

The main hit of the day seemed to be Martha the French bulldog who's owners owned the building, everyone was in love with her and the outdoor 'helipad' as Eddie called it, it was a rooftop garden essentially, with faux grass, a plastic cherry blossom (Which I'm currently looking for one myself!) and all the furniture was built out of wood pallets which looked rustic and quirky.
Sam & Katy managed to set up an amazing event with talks from Megan and Martin from Lush Liverpool who also did a demonstration which nobody volunteered to, a blogger taking off their make-up? Obscene, so Martin was the guinea pig for that and This Material Culture talking to us all about their handmade brand while having some of their pieces on display, ranging from cute silver pendants (Sam very kindly bought a lotus one for me), to Disney inspired rings - there was a Jack Skellington one which I was very close to buying - to necklaces with everything from toy dinosaurs to cows on them. Overall I'd say the day was a hit, I was very nervous throughout and barely spoke to anyone and hid behind Sam for the majority of it (Sorry about that!). Either way though, the goodie bags were amazingly generous and I'm still in awe that Sam & Katy managed to get some of the brands on board, I mean there was a full Tarte mascara! I'll definitely do a dedicated post to the bags as there's so much to mention. I'm really proud of them both for setting the whole thing up though, and it made me want to set my blog up even more as everyone was so lovely! Even though I had major style envy at some of the attendees. Have you ever been to a blogging meetup? How was your first one? |
